Qinghai Province’s location in Western China has traditionally separated it from the global economy, and in recent years many of Qinghai’s rural grasslands are no longer able to provide sufficient employment for local residents. Several years ago high-speed internet made its way to a small town on the Tibetan Plateau called Zeku, and shortly after that Global Nomad was started there as a computer training project with the vision of introducing a new resource to the area. In 2008 Global Nomad was officially registered in China as a foreign-owned business and since then has worked for companies from The Netherlands, China, England, Australia and the USA. Our office is a blend of Western, Tibetan, and Chinese cultures and this diversity gives us a unique creative edge. Global Nomad is committed to giving back to our community and one of the ways we do this is by donating a portion or our annual profits towards development and education projects in our local area. Also, the training of locals has always been a focal point for Global Nomad. Even though doing good business is our bottom line, we actively engage in outreach to the community through our “Exploring IT” and internship programs. Through these programs we provide free computer and web design training to locals interested in learning new skills and perhaps entering a new career with us.
